We are pleased to introduce the inaugural ISSPD Student Section and affiliated Student Committee (SSC). Founded in 2016, the Section is a student-run group working in alliance with the ISSPD organization to encourage and facilitate student participation in ISSPD activities and the scientific community of personality disorders. Our hope is to create a forum in which students can connect with peers and mentors across the globe about a variety of topics related to research, education, clinical training, and professional development.

In our first year, we have organized several events and activities geared towards students for the upcoming 2017 ISSPD Congress in Heidelberg, Germany (September 25-28, 2017)

These include:

  1. A preconference round table on publishing, featuring editors from top personality disorder research journals
  2. A student social night, where students can meet and connect with their peers
  3. A special student symposium, affording up-and-coming personality disorder researchers to showcase their work
  4. Poster awards specifically recognizing student presenters

Outside of the Congress, ISSPD student section members have access to benefits including:

  • News and resources through newsletters and listserv announcements
  • Networking and research collaboration
  • Mentoring program
  • Educational opportunities
  • Student-focused social media (see links to our website, Facebook, Twitter, and listserv below)

The SSC is keen to expand our student membership base in the upcoming months. To help us in our objective, we kindly ask that you pass this email/information along to students in your program or whom you think may be interested in becoming involved.
